Artistic Toy Imprint Methods and Color Matching:

Artistic Toy uses two methods for imprinting accessories: screen print and heat transfer.  We work with you to find the best result at the lowest cost.

We recommend doing a screen print process for one- to two-color imprinting on colored fabrics. If you need more than a 3 color imprint, it will not be cost or time effective. Please be aware there are limitations in screen printing highly detailed logos. Because most toys have a small imprint area, some logos and fonts with lines very close to one another will tend to be filled in by the ink. All screen prints are sent out and take 2-3 days.

We recommend a heat transfer process for full color imprinting. Heat transfers can only be done on white accessories. This is the primary method used when the artwork is very small, detailed, or color-intensive. All heat transfers are performed in-house and take 1-2 days to print.

Regardless of imprint method, we work to match the color you request. Please provide us with a PMS number along with CMYK numbers and we will match as close as possible. Recognize there are limitations in color matching that are outside of our control. Different paper and fabric material may produce color variations on your product. In addition, photographs will not always represent actual proof colors because of lighting and monitor screen settings. We cannot guarantee PMS color matching; however, we will match as close as possible at no additional charge.

Minimum Artwork Requirements:

  • Vector Graphics CMYK Color
  • Raster Images 150dpi or higher

* For best results, please send Vector Artwork files created in Adobe Illustrator and saved in .PDF, .AI, or .EPS formats.

** If using specific PMS Color(s), include PMS and CMYK numbers with artwork.

The Sm@rt Artwork Guidelines define the quality criteria that determine the minimum readiness of each of three common artwork formats. The guidelines cover both vector and raster art files, as well as including instructions to avoid common errors related to fonts and linked images.

Additional Information:

  Vector Artwork Files

  • Must be saved in the Postscript Format (EPS) and contain no Postscript errors, stray points or colors assigned inconsistently to the supplier's published requirements.
  • All type that has been set must be converted to outlines (curves or paths). If future changes to the text will be necessary, the original font file must be supplied with the art file for use on the supplier's specified computer platform (Mac or PC).
  • All design elements in the file must meet the minimums for line thickness of 0.5 pt. Failure to do so may compromise the final imprint quality.
  • If the vector file contains any linked (placed) raster images, these images must meet the supplier's minimum requirement of 150 dpi when rendered at 100% actual imprint size and must be submitted with the original vector file.
  •
    Raster Artwork Files

  • All Raster elements and art files must be sized to 100% or larger than the actual imprint size.
  • All Raster images must meet or exceed the minimum resolution of 150 dpi when rendered at the actual imprint size.
  • All raster elements must be submitted in the proper color space RGB or CMYK.
  •
    Acrobat (PDF) Files

  • PDF files created from vector files must retain the editing capabilities of the program that was used to create them (e.g. Adobe Illustrator).
  • PDF files that contain raster elements must meet the minimum requirements for raster art files as outlined above.
  • PDF files that contain vector elements must meet the minimum requirements for vector art files as outlined above.
  •
    Fonts

  • Any fonts used in the production of art files should be converted to curves (outlines) prior to submission. If future typesetting will be required, the original font files must be included with the artwork file to be used on the supplier's specific computer platform (Mac or PC).
  •
    Other Than Above

  • Only professional software packages may be used to produce artwork. Although programs like Microsoft Word and Publisher are useful tools, they are not capable of producing art files of a quality necessary for imprinting purposes.
